Privacy Policy
Last updated · June 25, 2026This page explains what AskScope collects, the third-party services that process it, and how to access, export, or delete your data. We keep data collection lean and don’t sell it.
Founder / legal review
Accurate to how AskScope is built today, but a template — not legal advice. Confirm your legal entity, data-controller details, and any GDPR/CCPA-specific obligations with counsel before launch.
Who we are
AskScope is operated by Eastbase Studio. For privacy questions or data requests, email support@askscope.app. TODO (founder): add your registered company name, address, and data-controller contact.
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email, a hashed password, or the identifier from an optional Google or GitHub sign-in. We never store passwords in plain text.
- What you enter to monitor — brand name, website domain, category, location, competitors, and any key facts you provide for accuracy checks.
- Scan results and evidence — the AI answers, citations, scores, and site-audit results produced by a scan, stored so you can review the evidence and trend over time.
- Billing details— handled by our payment provider (below). We store your plan, subscription status, renewal date, and the provider’s customer/subscription IDs. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- A hashed IP for free scans — to rate-limit public scans and prevent abuse, we store a salted one-way hash of your IP address, not the raw address.
- Product analytics and error logs — anonymous-by-default usage events, performance metrics, and crash reports, used to fix bugs and improve the product (see cookies and processors below). We do not use session replay or autocapture.
How we use it
- To run scans, build your reports and weekly digests, and send the emails you ask for.
- To provide and secure the service, enforce limits, and prevent abuse.
- To take payment and manage your subscription.
- To understand what’s working and fix problems.
We don’t sell your personal data or run third-party advertising on AskScope.
Services that process your data
We rely on a small set of vetted providers to run AskScope. Each receives only what it needs:
- AI engines— Perplexity, OpenAI (ChatGPT Search), Google (Gemini), and Anthropic (Claude). To run a scan we send buyer-intent questions about your category to these engines. We don’t send them your account email or billing details.
- Lemon Squeezy — payments and subscriptions, as merchant of record (it also handles sales tax/VAT).
- Resend — sends weekly digest and password-reset emails.
- Vercel — hosting, plus privacy-friendly traffic and performance analytics.
- PostHog — product analytics and feature flags (US cloud).
- Sentry — error and performance monitoring.
- A managed PostgreSQL database stores your account, brands, and scan history. TODO (founder): name your database host and its region.
Cookies and analytics
AskScope uses a small number of cookies and similar storage:
- Essential— a session cookie that keeps you signed in. The product doesn’t work without it, so it isn’t optional.
- Analytics— PostHog and Vercel Analytics use cookies or local identifiers to measure usage and performance. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
TODO (founder): if you market to the EU/UK, add a consent banner so non-essential analytics only load after consent.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and scan history while your account is active so your trends stay intact. Free public scans are cached for about 24 hours and retained as part of the scan record. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data, except where we must keep limited billing records for legal or tax reasons.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
- Export — Growth-plan users can export scan history to CSV in the app; anyone can request a copy of their data by email.
- Delete — email support@askscope.app to delete your account and data.
- Email — weekly digests are tied to monitors you choose to save; pause or remove a monitor to stop them.
To make any request, email support@askscope.app.
Security and changes
We use reasonable measures to protect your data — hashed passwords, signed sessions, and encrypted transport — but no online service can promise perfect security. We may update this policy as the product changes; we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Questions go to support@askscope.app, or see our Terms of Service.
